With the departure of last year’s two top players, men’s tennis sophomore John Morrissey had big shoes to fill this season, leading a relatively young team against some of the toughest competition in the nation.
The singles and doubles portion of the NCAA Championships once again proved to be an elusive prize for the Stanford men’s tennis team this weekend, with senior Bradley Klahn falling to eventual champion Steve Johnson of USC in the semifinal of the singles event and the duo of Klahn and fellow senior Ryan Thacher coming up just short in the doubles quarterfinal against Oklahoma’s Costin Paval and Dane Webb.

The No. 11 Stanford men’s tennis team once again encountered heartbreak in the quarterfinals of the NCAA team tournament this weekend, losing 4-0 Sunday to No. 3 Virginia after defeating No. 6 Kentucky 4-1 in the round of 16 on Friday.
