If it was looking to bring more success to the Farm, Stanford athletics made the right decision when it decided to add women’s sand volleyball to its existing 35 varsity sports programs. In its inaugural season, the Card finished 7-1, sweeping all three meetings with Santa Clara, falling only to Saint Mary’s and coming out on top against Sacramento State, San Francisco and Pacific.

With a 3-2 win over Pacific yesterday, the Stanford sand volleyball team extended its season record to 4-1 and will head into its own Stanford Tournament this Sunday with the momentum of two straight wins.
The Stanford sand volleyball team won its inaugural contest in style, defeating Santa Clara 4-1 at the ACSR Sand Volleyball Courts on Tuesday. A crowd of over 200 fans showed up to support the Cardinal and catch a little slice of history.
No. 2 Stanford begins its bid for a seventh NCAA title Friday against Jackson State at 8 p.m.
After seeing its 22-game win streak come to an end, the No. 2 Stanford women’s volleyball team had to begin anew, starting with its matchup with UCLA on November 16. Three games and three victories later, the Cardinal had officially regained its mojo, ready to take on any opponent in the NCAA Tournament.
The Stanford women’s volleyball team continued its reign of excellence this week, beating both Washington State and Washington to extend its winning streak to 22-straight and give the Cardinal a solid claim to the title of hottest team in the nation in any sport.
The Cardinal shut out both the Ducks and Beavers this past weekend, increasing its winning streak to 20 games. It’s the longest winning streak for Stanford since the 1999 season, and also head coach John Dunning’s longest winning streak since he took over on the Farm. Stanford now faces the Washington schools this week.
