The Knight Management Center, which became the new home to the Graduate School of Business (GSB) over the past year, achieved one of its major goals by receiving the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Platinum certification–the highest level of sustainable building award currently possible–late last month.
Alvaro Uribe, former president of Colombia, addressed security issues in Latin America to a capacity audience of 400 people in the Knight Management Center Cemex Auditorium Tuesday. The South American leader acknowledged claims of human rights violations by his administration, but argued that these measures were necessary to right the course of the country in the long term.

The University recently confirmed that the five-year Stanford Challenge fundraising campaign will officially end on Dec. 31, with a final report and press release along with comments from President John Hennessy to be released in February 2012, according to University spokeswoman Lisa Lapin.
A large number of luminaries and entrepreneurs descended on the Graduate School of Business (GSB) on Saturday for the TEDx Silicon Valley conference. The theme of the event was “Living by Numbers.”
One of the largest construction projects on campus this year, the Knight Management Center, officially opens today. The facility has been partially in use since January and fully operational since April 18, with an official open house and ceremony this afternoon.
The Faculty Senate convened Feb. 3 to address three topics: declining interest in the humanities, the opening of the new Graduate School of Business campus and student mental health.
