After strong performances in the NCAA West Preliminary round in Austin, Texas last weekend, Stanford will send twelve athletes, nine women and three men, to next week’s NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Hey all. Yesterday was even quieter than Tuesday for our program here at home. The morning distance crew practice was comprised of Will, Garrett, Thomas, Luke and myself. Starting from the track around 7:20 a.m., we headed out going west on Campus Drive towards the hospital, eventually connecting with Junipero Serra and then onto Alpine Road.

Stanford junior Michael Atchoo set a new school and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) record in the mile to lead the Cardinal men’s track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the MPSF championships. The women finished fourth.

So far this season, the Cardinal has made an intimidating impression, demonstrating its potential for the spring. Two weeks ago Stanford made headlines in the distance races, but this time the story was about success in the field events.
