The Stanford women’s basketball team routed Arizona 73-43 at Maples Pavilion on Friday night to stay tied for first place in the Pac-12 Conference with California, which defeated Arizona State 66-53 an hour later across the Bay.
The Stanford women’s basketball team heads into weekend play ranked third in the Pac-12, the first time in seven seasons that the Card fail to lead the conference, after Cal broke its 81-game conference winning streak on Tuesday. A lot of weight is being placed on these two upcoming games as the Card (14-2, 3-1 Pac-12) looks to redeem itself against the only teams left undefeated in the conference — UCLA (13-2, 4-0) and USC (7-8, 4-0).
In Boulder on Friday night, the Stanford women’s basketball team defeated Colorado 57-40 to open Pac-12 play with a win. The defeat ended Colorado’s unbeaten start to the season and extended Stanford’s unbeaten streak in the Pac-12 conference to 79 straight games, dating back to a 57-54 loss in Berkeley on Jan. 18, 2009
