The No. 2 Stanford women’s volleyball team’s season ended in the final of the Berkeley Regional of the NCAA Tournament last Saturday, falling to Michigan in the tournament for the third time in four years last Saturday.
W. Volleyball: Stanford wins three straight to close out regular season, earns No. 2 seed for NCAA tournament
After seeing its 22-game win streak come to an end, the No. 2 Stanford women’s volleyball team had to begin anew, starting with its matchup with UCLA on November 16. Three games and three victories later, the Cardinal had officially regained its mojo, ready to take on any opponent in the NCAA Tournament.
Facing two of the conference’s strongest teams, the Stanford women’s volleyball team (20-2, 11-2 Pac-10) put on a pair of impressive shows at Maples Pavilion this weekend, decisively beating No. 10 UCLA (17-7, 7-6) on Friday and No. 7 USC (20-4, 9-4) on Sunday.
Playing in front of a home crowd of more than 4,600 people, the No. 2 Stanford women’s volleyball team fell to No. 5 California in four sets last Friday. Now at the season’s halfway mark, the Card (16-2, 7-2 Pac-10) is second in the Pac-10 standings.
