No. 7 Stanford men’s volleyball is no longer undefeated at home. After two weeks on the road, the Cardinal returned home to play No. 6 Long Beach State on Friday and No. 13 Cal State Northridge on Saturday at Maples. While the Cardinal (5-4, 2-4 MPSF) defeated Cal State Northridge in three straight sets, it lost a tough battle against Long Beach State in five close sets.

The Stanford men’s volleyball team has finally found the key to success, or so it seems after two critical and emotional wins at home this past weekend. The Cardinal beat No. 5 Pepperdine (9-6) and No. 13 USC (4-9), both important rivals to the program. The weekend’s success demonstrates that Stanford is a tough, maturing team and possibly a contender for the national championship.
Stanford men’s volleyball pulled out two dramatic five-set victories against No. 5 Pepperdine and No. 13 USC this weekend to avenge early season losses and establish itself as one of the toughest teams in the MPSF.
After back-to-back matches in Hawaii, the Stanford men’s volleyball team will return to the Farm—where it hasn’t lost this season—for two weekend home matches. The No. 3 Cardinal (7-3, 4-3 Pac-12) will face No. 1 UC-Irvine (8-3, 5-3 Pac-12) tonight, and newly unranked UC-San Diego (4-8, 2-6 Pac-12) on Saturday.

The Stanford women’s volleyball team continued its reign of excellence this week, beating both Washington State and Washington to extend its winning streak to 22-straight and give the Cardinal a solid claim to the title of hottest team in the nation in any sport.
