Card swimmers take eighth at NCAAs

Nine swimmers earned All-America honors to pace the Stanford women’s swimming and diving team to an eighth-place finish at the 2013 NCAA Championships this weekend in Indianapolis. It was the Cardinal’s 33rd consecutive top-10 finish at the NCAAs.

Murez to lead Card in her last NCAA swim and dive championship

As most students on The Farm take their last finals of the winter quarter, the women’s swimming and diving squad will be engaged in a battle of its own for an NCAA title—a title that has proved elusive as of late. The best collegiate swimmers in the nation will square off against each other in Indianapolis with the national championship at stake in a three-day affair from March 21st to the 23rd. In the thirty years in which the sport has been played at the national level, Stanford has claimed the most national championships of any team with eight. However, its last title came 15 years ago in 1998 at the tail end of an era of dominance that saw it claim six national titles in seven years.

Schaefer, Lee carry Card past LA schools

Only six days removed from a huge weekend that saw the Cardinal defeat No. 20 Arizona State and upset No. 6 Arizona to rocket them from No. 8 to No. 2 in the NCAA rankings, the Cardinal (7-1, 4-0 Pac-12) knew that an enormous challenge lay ahead of them in a two-day home stand against two undefeated squads from Southern California. Unconcerned, Stanford held strong and rose to the occasion in spectacular fashion.
