At its April 16 meeting, the ASSU Undergraduate Senate debated issues surrounding the policies and structure of the Senate, including the organization of committees, whether senators should be allowed to study abroad and how many Senate seats should be reserved for upperclassmen.
Trusheim has held many different positions within the ASSU during his time at Stanford, including a stint as Elections Commissioner in 2011.
In its regular Tuesday meeting, the ASSU Undergraduate Senate approved next year’s ASSU Financial Manager and appointed a new member to the Constitutional Council. The senators also settled their muddled three-week debate surrounding the distribution of public campaign financing and the existence of a campaign spending cap.
At its Tuesday night meeting, the 13th Undergraduate Senate discussed how to allocate its efforts in the remaining weeks of the Senators’ terms, with Senators debating the possibility of transitioning to the new Senate earlier, in week three or four of spring quarter rather than week five as has traditionally occurred.
The 13th Undergraduate Senate convened for its first meeting of the 2011-12 academic year Tuesday, confirming Adam Adler ’12 as its new Elections Commissioner and discussing several upcoming bills.
