Students reflect on Admit Weekend alcohol policy

As over 1,000 prospective freshmen (ProFros) converged on campus last weekend for Admit Weekend 2012, Stanford’s normal, unofficially liberal alcohol rules were replaced by a zero-tolerance policy on the consumption of alcohol. The more stringent regime is implemented across campus for the annual event, even in residences not hosting ProFros.

Co-op residents react to ResEd, Chi Theta Chi

Representatives of Stanford’s traditionally diverse co-op community have reacted as one to Stanford’s recent decision to revoke Chi Theta Chi’s (XOX) lease, voicing both criticism of the University decision as well as sympathy for XOX residents. The effects of direct University management on co-op life, however, are more muted than the outcry suggests.

Flying the co-op

While each co-op has a unique reputation, they all offer what the Office of Residential Education calls “an alternative to Stanford dorm life.” On campus, there are seven of them: Columbae, Synergy, Hammarskjöld, Terra, Chi Theta Chi (XOX), Kairos and Enchanted Broccoli Forest (EBF).
