Manti Te’o's alleged girlfriend, who supposedly died of leukemia six hours after Te’o's grandmother passed away, is revealed to be a hoax. Lennay Kekua was supposed to have attended Stanford University and met him on campus after a game in 2009.
Oregon opened as a 24-point favorite on the basis of perhaps the most efficient offense in the last 20 years (this is where Baylor fans and RGIII cry fowl). Without question, the Ducks should win this game on paper.
ESPN’s College GameDay has apparently become ESPN’s SEC GameDay.
It was 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, and for the first time in its 18 years broadcasting live from college campuses, ESPN College GameDay was hosting its national pre-game show at Stanford.
It’s an interesting thought — especially considering it comes from the football coach — and I would have to agree. While there are so many people doing amazing things all over our campus, there is more than one thing that we should focus on. Stanford just likes to win. We want to be best in everything.
When ESPN’s College GameDay program set up shop last October at the University of Missouri for the Tigers’ showdown against then-No. 1 Oklahoma (a remarkable game as upsets go), an estimated 18,000 fans showed up to watch Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and the boys do their thing live and in person.
With a top-10 team coming to town, College GameDay at the Farm for the first time ever and national title hopes hanging in the balance, Saturday’s clash with Oregon is much more than just a normal football game. If LSU-Alabama was the “Game of the Century,” then Oregon-Stanford looks to be the “Game of the Century: Watchable Edition,” or at least the “Game of the Century: Now with Offense!”
But someone was left out of the spotlight. A Cardinal player was responsible for stripping the ball out of USC running back Curtis McNeal’s hands. What about the hero who made the play that essentially saved the Cardinal’s perfect season?
