The ASSU Undergraduate Senate passed the ASSU’s 2013-14 Operating Budget in its last full meeting of the year before the transition to the 15th Undergraduate Senate.
As voting in the 2013 ASSU elections nears an end, the Executive slate of Dan Ashton ’14 and Billy Gallagher ’14 have distanced themselves from an endorsement by The Stanford Review, after the publication of a controversial opinions piece critical of the Students of Color Coalition (SOCC).
For the 2013-14 ASSU Executive, The Stanford Daily Editorial Committee unanimously endorses Dan Ashton ’14 and Billy Gallagher ’14, the slate that we feel will be best able to represent the student body and effectively utilize the ASSU to further student interests in the upcoming year.
In an engaged and occasionally bizarre debate on Monday night at the CoHo, this year’s three ASSU Executive candidate slates discussed and sparred over supporting mental health initiatives on campus, increasing student feedback in administrative decisions and improving the reputation of the ASSU.
The 50 undergraduate and five joint VSOs seeking special fees on April 11 and 12 have all put forward budgets exceeding the $6,000 limit granted by the general fees process.
