Calif. schools at stake in budget

California voters will face a stark choice in November when they decide whether to approve Governor Jerry Brown’s new budget proposal, which stipulates either raising income taxes for the wealthy and temporarily increasing sales tax by half a percent, or eliminating $5.3 billion from state welfare and public school expenditures.

CA Dream Act bill fails in GSC vote

ASSU and GSC student government representatives remain divided over an undergraduate senate bill expressing support for the California Dream Act. The bill failed to pass the Graduate Student Council (GSC) on Oct. 5 after coasting through the Undergraduate Senate unanimously.
