With Stanford and Oregon, it’s no surprise that it would come down to one last play.

After scoring on a Greg Taboada touchdown pass, Stanford (8-2, 7-1 Pac-12) was unable to score on a 2-point conversion, signaling the end of one of the most wild games in Stanford Stadium in recent memory.

Stanford had its share of trouble before that play, however. Kevin Hogan fumbled snaps on two consecutive drives and the secondary had no answers to a powerful Oregon (7-3, 5-2) offense.

Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams was virtually unstoppable, completing 10-of-12 passes for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns, while running back Royce Freeman ran for 105 yards and 1 touchdown.

For Stanford, Christian McCaffrey had 147 yards and 1 touchdown on 33 carries, while Hogan had a great day through the air. Ultimately, the turnovers and inability to stop the big plays from Oregon spelled the end for Stanford and its playoff hopes.

The Cardinal will next host Cal at home next Saturday.
