Sports Brief: 115th Big Game kickoff set for 12 p.m.

The Pac-12 announced Monday that the 115th Big Game between Stanford and Cal will kick off at noon on Oct. 20, to be televised nationally on FOX. It will be the first Big Game not played in November or December since the rivalry’s inaugural matchup in March of 1892.

Cal’s Memorial Stadium, the site of this year’s game, has reopened this season after extensive seismic retrofitting and renovation forced the Bears to play home games last season at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Stanford will meet Cal in the 115th Big Game at 12 p.m. from Berkeley, Calif.

After a difficult start to the season, Berkeley (2-4, 1-3 Pac-12) found a bright spot this weekend with a 43-17 trouncing of then-No. 23 UCLA. Before No. 17 Stanford (4-1, 2-1) visits its bitter Bay Area rival, however, the Cardinal will hit the road to face No. 7 Notre Dame in a nationally televised clash this Saturday from South Bend, Ind.
