This report covers a selection of incidents from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2 as recorded in the Stanford Police Department Public Bulletin.

Police received reports of bike thefts during this period from the Gates Computer Science building, Mirlo, Loro, the Mitchell Earth Sciences building, the Band Shak and Enchanted Broccoli Forest. A laptop was stolen from Mirrielees.

Wednesday, Jan. 27

Between 1:30 a.m. and 4:55 a.m. an unknown suspect vandalized approximately 30 Marguerite shuttle buses parked at 360 Oak Road by spray-painting a stenciled symbol on the back of the buses.

Thursday, Jan. 28

12 p.m. on Jan. 27 and 11:30 a.m. on this day, an unknown suspect stole a “bansai” plant from the victim’s front yard at 1097 Carthcarat Way.

On this day, Vaden Health Center staff reported that the center had been receiving annoying and harassing phone calls from an unknown suspect for the past several months.

At 10:20 p.m. near the Terman Engineering Center, two arrestees were transported to the Main Jail and booked for vehicle theft. A juvenile was cited for the same and released to the parents. Sometimes it’s good to be the tag-along.

Friday, Jan. 29

Between 12:58 a.m. and 2 a.m. an ABM custodian made an unauthorized use of a University computer when she plugged in her phone to charge it in the Terman Engineering Center.

Between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. an unknown suspect broke into a car in Parking Structure 5 near the Sand Hill Athletic Fields, and stole a CD player, an iPod, a GPS system and a parking permit.

Between 8:05 a.m. and 8:20 a.m., an unknown suspect slashed three tires on the victim’s vehicle in the Haas Center parking lot. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Saturday, Jan. 30

At 1 a.m., a student befriended a person at Rudy’s Pub at 117 University Ave. in Palo Alto. After the student gave the person a ride, the person left some suspicious property in the vehicle—according to a later University alert e-mail, handcuffs and lighter fluid.

Between 3 p.m. and 11:59 p.m., an unknown suspect stole an LCD television set from an unlocked cabinet on the first floor of the Arroyo lounge.

Sunday, Jan. 31

Between 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 30 and 2 a.m. on this day, an unknown suspect caused more than $400 worth of damage to a motorcycle parked outside of EAST.

At 12:35 a.m. on Mayfield Avenue, an arrestee was cited and released for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

At 2:20 a.m. at El Camino and Page Mill, an arrestee was transported to the San Jose Main Jail and booked for driving under the influence.

At 11:40 p.m. on Mayfield Avenue, an arrestee was cited and released for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Monday, Feb. 1

Between 1 a.m. on Jan. 28 and 1 a.m. on this day, an unknown suspect entered Herrin Hall and attempted to take a projector from the ceiling. A cable fastened to a wooden podium was also cut.

At 8:40 p.m., a stray dog was found in the area of Mayfield Avenue and San Rafael Place. Witnesses said they noticed another dog and a cat in the area, and that the three of them seemed to be on an incredible journey bound toward home.

Between 9:45 p.m. and 11 p.m., a wallet was stolen from the Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation while the owner was playing basketball.

Tuesday, Feb. 2

Between 5:50 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., an injured deer was dispatched on Junipero Serra Boulevard near Santa Maria Avenue.

An injury vehicle-vs.-vehicle collision occurred at 9:55 a.m. at Palm Drive and Arboretum Road.

At 1:35 p.m. in the Varian physics labs, a person was served a University-issued stay-away letter prohibiting him from being on the Stanford campus. The person agreed to comply.

4:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. an unknown suspect entered a dormitory room in Roble Hall and stole cash from the victim’s wallet. The suspect was seen leaving the room.
